Barbara CarswellIn one class, students use their own experiences as the basis for a radio show. In another class, children drum a traditional African rhythm on a shoebox. A third class listens to a tale about Hindu gods and goddesses as told by a native of Delhi dressed in a gorgeous silk sari. A fourth grasps what happens to a hamburger when it is swallowed. The common thread is that all of our programs empower students. They realize that it is possible to become a scientist or an artist and, perhaps most importantly, that they can make informed decisions about their own lives.

Springboard opens doors for students as it opens their minds. Students learn to express themselves effectively and authentically, in writing, speech and through the arts. Academic performance improves as vocabularies expand. Retention is strengthened as multiple senses are employed. Springboard programs encourage students to take risks, to work cooperatively and to take pride in their accomplishments.

We are passionate about awakening curiosity and motivating students by providing a rich array of arts and cultural experiences to enhance education. I invite you to explore our site to learn how young people benefit from Springboard’s programs and how you can help us accomplish our mission.

Sincerely,

Barbara Carswell
