Creative Movement Exploration NEW
Creative Movement Exploration works with children on discovering creative concepts of dance, rhythm and expression within the body. It adapts very easily to the current curriculum used in the classroom and can be an extension of learning through literacy, music, teamwork and language. Creative Movement Exploration has two core objectives: developing an understanding of musical beats and how to express those rhythmically; and developing core motor skills with a basis of using the body as a storytelling vessel. Students will learn fundamental ideas and vocabulary including space, opposition, focus, rhythm, physicality, expression, storytelling, improvisation and specificity. Students will channel their energy to learn counting and develop movement control. Each class will include a warm-up and discuss the importance of stretching and work on the vocabulary surrounding stage movement and dance steps. As the class progresses, students will create mini-scripts to emphasize the different ways to tell stories, as well as work on developing memory and motor skills. Students will discuss the importance of character development and explore different ways people, animals, objects move and act. The program incorporates instruments and different styles of music to explore character and expression through movement and discuss the aspects of incorporating physical actions with music and different rhythms to set moods or tell creative stories.
