Voices of the American Dream: The Ellis Island Story NEW

What would cause millions of people to give up a way of life, leaving their homeland and, sometimes, their family members behind to come to the foreign shores of America? What was the voyage like…would Americans welcome you when you finally arrived? The answers will be found as we experience immigration through dressing in reproduction clothing from the turn of the century (late 1800’s-1900’s), hearing true stories of immigration and the upset of waiting to hear if you will be allowed into America or deported back to your country. To remember your immigration experience, you may keep a classroom journal. You will be provided with printed materials for conducting your own family interview and completing your own personal family tree.
