Culture of Japan
Students hear Japanese fairytales from sensei Yoshie Montgomery, learn the ancient art of origami and study the traditions and festivals of the Japanese people through song and dance. They also learn how to use chopsticks, write their name in Japanese and gain practice in the Japanese tradition of respect in the classroom.

About Montgomery, Yoshie
Yoshie Montgomery has taught kindergarten at the St. Louis Japanese Language School for Children for twenty years and has taught Japanese language courses for Berlitz and at St. Charles Community College. She has studied Japanese calligraphy for more than twenty years and is a fully certified instructor of calligraphy with the rank of "Professor." Yoshie is certified by dance masters in Japan to instruct in the Tohzan Ryu style of Japanese classic and modern dance. She has been with Springboard for the past ten years.
