Moving Through Math
This residency is a fun and lively program which uses dance to teach children about math. The dancers bring math to life using music, story and dance. This program catalyzes children’s capacity to grasp mathematical concepts by simultaneously stimulating their visual, auditory, and kinesthetic input channels. Such concepts include geometry according to their age and grade, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, spatial graphing. In the Moving through Math residency & workshop the students are encouraged to use their own creativity and teamwork in forming their own shapes and sequences to develop a choreographed dance.

The aTrek Dance Collective is a not for profit organization of St. Louis based dance artists dedicated to the development of local contemporary modern dance programs. Our primary activities include creating opportunities for the advanced training and development of dance artists and the presentation of their work. aTrek offers community based activities including master classes, workshops, school residencies, and performances. We promote the values of artistic expression, physical awareness, and cultural diversity through dance. The Dance Collective serves school children, pre-professional dancers and adult audiences in St. Louis, Missouri and surrounding areas.
