This socially-minded arts program includes a wide variety of studio projects and concepts in visual art. Lessons in drawing, color theory, bookmaking and collage will prepare students with illustration tactics that are the tools for telling their own stories.

Conversations leading up to our studio projects will encourage students to recognize who they are in the context of a world filled with diversity. Student-led brainstorms about our similarities and differences will support a better understanding of our connections as human beings and inspire ideas for our art projects.

Throughout the course, students have the opportunity to become very familiar with the color wheel; this will enhance their artwork into the future and support important steps toward creating a peaceful community.

An on-line gallery can feature the culmination of students’ completed works of art.
