From the Civil War to the Great Depression to the present day, participants explore the history of the harmonica and the blues with Sandy Weltman, one of the Midwest’s foremost harmonica players. Each participant receives a harmonica, a practice tape and a music packet along with tricks of the trade from the “Sand Man.” The residency culminates with students creating collaborative blues songs and performing them.
